Rahm The Clear Fan Favourite
The Players Championship Purse now $20 Million / The PGA Tour's 'Play 15 Bonus'
Hi all! 👋
Another winner last week in our Best Bets with Sungjae Im winning at 28/1. It was also very nearly a win-double with our European Tour selection Adri Arnaus at 40/1 losing in a playoff to finish 2nd. That cross-Atlantic double would’ve been a whopping 1180/1!
Hopefully we can pick out another value winner this week.

Rahm The Clear Fan Favourite
I’ll be the first to admit - when Jon Rahm first burst onto the scene, I was not a massive favourite. No taking away his ability and talent, but I just wasn’t ‘won over’. If he was playing an event or not, I wouldn’t be phased.
However! Over the last 6 months in particular, it is clear to see he is doing and saying all the right things and not just to try win fans over. He is doing them because he really wants to. The most recent of these was last week at the Open de Espana. Firstly, he made an appearance at a small pursed European Tour event (even though it was his home open) and supported the lesser tour. He could easily have bypassed it having had a busy stretch prior and most other players have had a rest for the last 3 weeks. The fans certainly did appreciate it!
Secondly - he was prepared to sign autographs and have photos taken with all the kids who were there to see their hero and ‘he didn’t care how long it took’, but he would fulfill his role model duties.
Then there was the way he admirably handled his unfortunate forced withdrawal from The Memorial earlier this year where he was leading by 6 shots entering the final round and almost certain to win Jack’s event.
Undoubtedly also paying tribute to his hero Seve Ballesteros where he can such as after winning the US Open at Torrey Pines.
He’s becoming the ‘Roger Federer’ of golf, not one person I have spoken to has anything bad to say about Jon Rahm. And golf needs someone like him - long may it continue.

✅ Golf Snippets
As if the upper-echelon players need just a touch more money, the PGA Tour has now initiated a ‘Play 15 Bonus’ of $50k for the 2022 season. Encouraging them to play a bit more each year. Good on them, just great stuff 👌👏
The Players Championship purse is now $20 million in 2022 - up from a dire $10 million in 2014. Winner’s cheque would be $3.6 million. For interest’s sake, a Chartered Account as of 21 Sep 2021 earns an average of just less than $100 000 per annum.
Who said golf isn’t dangerous?? Check out this fan who took a knock to the head from Matsuyama’s wayward drive last week. Shame, you can just see how bad Hideki felt for causing that!
Wait a Second!
This is both hilarious and unbelievable. You have to watch it more than once. How did that miss!!? 😳😂

Golf’s governing bodies have decided that driver shaft lengths need to be curbed to a maximum length of 46 inches. Well, it has been met with some disdain including Phil Mickelson. It does seem to be a very silly rule - in my opinion, there needs to be limits implemented in other aspects such as armlock!
