LIV Majors? No Thanks
Hi All!
Welcome to all our new subscribers joining in for our weekly wrap up of prize money payouts, world ranking movers and opinionated golf content!
A Saudi golf executive has mentioned that LIV may host its own majors in years to come. In my opinion this is a bit crazy.
Majors are majors and no one will ever be able to replicate or create new majors - the four proper majors form part of every professional golf tour’s calendars worldwide and have the legitimate history and memories that make them the most special events in golf.
The only thing that would make the LIV majors ‘bigger’ than standard events would be the prize funds, but apart from that they would have absolutely nothing on the Masters, US Open, PGA and The Open. And that will never change - even in our grandkids lifetime.
On another note - why have some worldwide tours made it so increasingly difficult to find a players earnings for that week or the full field’s prize money payouts?? Many smaller (or senior) tours such as the Australian PGA, Sunshine and Legends Tours are following the points system initiated by the PGA Tour. That’s perfectly fine, but people still want to see prizemoney payouts for each event…every week! I sometimes feel like a private investigator sifting through player profiles and tour handbooks published at the start of a season trying to establish exactly what the last placed cheque was for a specific event. Thanks to a couple of players who help me in this weekly quest!
It’s just human nature to want to convert to something or know just how much (or little) a player has earned for a week’s work!

Matt Fitzpatrick was never a long in hitter - in fact even just two years ago at the Masters he was hitting a 7 wood into the 11th hole one round when Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas were hitting short irons. Things have changed a little bit since then…
