Asian Players Dominating Rankings
Not sure when any of you last perused the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings?
One thing is for certain though - Asian players are dominating the rankings! A total of 8 women within the Top 15 and more than half (26) of the Top 50 are made up of players from China, Thailand, Japan and South Korea.
Even more interestingly, South Korea alone overpower every other country, holding a 30% share of the Top 500!
The men’s Official World Golf Rankings are nothing like this. There are ZERO Asian players within the Top 15 and only two currently within Top 50. Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im.
Why is this the case though? What has caused it and how did it come about? After all, both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour are where the world’s best men and women want to ply their trade. Both Women’s and Men’s world ranking criteria mimics each other as shown in below image…
Does the number of mini tours in the USA aid the ‘feed’ of primarily American players to the Korn Ferry Tour and subsequently the PGA Tour therefore outweighing the number of Asians, Europeans and other world players?
Could it also be that there is more of an ‘even’ playing field on the LPGA Tour where length isn’t rewarded as much as that of players on the PGA Tour? Let’s face it - you don’t hit it long as a male professional then you’re up against it from the get go! The women’s game seems more precision orientated (within reason of course), but this is one helluva conundrum.
Will things change in the next 5, 10, 20 years and we see a huge surge in Asian males within the OWGR?
I’d love to hear some opinions on this topic so please feel free to give your two cents and add a comment.

✅ Golf Snippets
Patrick Reed in hospital with double pneumonia. A possibility he may be omitted from US Ryder Cup selection?…
Bryson will be competing in the Pro Long Drive right after the Ryder Cup this year. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was kickback of some sort heading his way! 🤔
Speaking of Bryson, remember his almost croquet like putting style for a short period? My word was it terrible! 🤦♂️
Huge praise for Tony Finau from a number of players, one of which is Jon Rahm. Check out this great photo & Rahm’s comments.
A shank is terrible, but multiply that by 100 when on the final hole of the Women’s Open Championship!
Wait a Second! 😆
Check out the Taylormade team try their hand(s) at Happy Gilmore! No surprises who came out on top!
